5 Beauty Products You Need to Replace Today

No matter how much you love your favourite lip gloss, that was discontinued in 2010. You need to throw it away, trust me on this one.

5 BEAUTY PRODUCTS YOU NEED TO REPLACE TODAYBefore knowing these facts I held onto my favourite lipglosses, mascaras, and even sunscreen, for longer than I would like to admit. Once I realised that products actually have a use by date, I started throwing out products like a mad woman.

Not only are you getting rid of nasty products, you’re making room for new products by decluttering. Here are the top 5 beauty products I got rid of and so should you after reading this.

Lipgloss is one of my all time favourite beauty products, that I also tend to hoard like a crazy lip gloss lady. The truth is, lip glosses are one of the worst bacteria offenders, especially if they are in a pot.

An old or out of date lip gloss can lead to breakouts and cold sores which, can be contagious. That old and over used gloss has to go.

We all like to get the most out of our beauty products, especially when you pay good money for them. However, adding water to that crusty old mascara, might not be worth it.

Avoid pumping the wand in and out of your mascara because it pushes air and potentially bacteria into the tube (swirl the wand in circles instead).

Try to replace your mascara every 3-4 months after opening, to avoid any nasty eye infections.

One of my passions is skin care yet, I never thought to check the use by date of my skincare and more importantly my sunscreen. There is nothing more important for your health and the health of your skin, then protecting it from the sun.

Old sunscreens are not as effective at protecting your skin so replace old bottles every season.

Something that is in your mouth at least twice a day should be of the utmost cleanliness. When the bristles of your toothbrush start to bend, it’s time to replace it.

You want to ensure you’re giving your teeth the respect they deserve, so aim to replace your toothbrush every 3 months.

Things like your loofah or exfoliating gloves when left in the shower (a dark and damp area) are a breeding ground for bacteria. They should be left in a dry and clean place and throw out every couple of months.

I hate the thought of being wasteful, but knowing these things has encouraged me to only buy what I need and use it all up before it expires.

I hope you enjoyed this post! If you did be sure to visit me out on YouTube and Instagram

  1. I can never understand why people keep their liquid lipstick or gloss for more than 6-12 months. The amount of microbes are scary. If there’s paraben, then maybe it is okay, but otherwise, definitely throw that thing away far far away.
