How To Layer Skincare | Skincare Routine

Taking care of our skin and having a daily skincare routine is so important. Whilst you may have a skincare routine AND amazing skincare products. If you don’t layer skincare in the correct order you’re skin won’t be receiving the full benefits!

Not only is this a waste of time and money but it can leave your skin not looking its best. Here are my morning and nighttime skincare routines and the order in which you should be applying your skincare products.

Layer Skincare Products in This Order

For maximum effectiveness be sure to layer your skincare products in this order or if you forget as a rule of thumb you should be applying your skincare from thinnest to the thickest consistency.

Also, keep in mind that if you have a super expensive serum or cream that you want the full benefits of, you don’t want to apply it over layers of other products. This will make it harder for the product to sink into the skin and do its job, so apply it first.

  • Makeup remover
  • Cleanser or exfoliator
  • Toner or essence
  • Treatments, including vitamin c, retinoids, acne treatments,
  • Serums
  • Chemical sunscreen
  • Moisturiser
  • Face oil, acts as a barrier, locking in hydration and the benefits of your other products.
  • Mineral sunscreen, as a final step to reflect UV rays away.

Skincare Tip: skincare absorbs better when the skin is moist. That’s why skincare is best applies after your shower or spray your face with a facial mist.

After all of your skincare steps is when you go in with primer, foundation and all of your other makeup products.
