If you’re struggling with things like anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or a lack of motivation, you need to be the one to give yourself a break. Show yourself some compassion, understanding and self-love.
Learning to love yourself and build your self-esteem is a process. It can be long and difficult, but the sooner that we start practising self-love and acceptance the sooner we can become confident and capable women.
5 Ways to Build Your Self-Esteem & Confidence
Here are the five things that have really helped me promote self-love in mine and others lives that help build self-esteem.
Stop Saying Bad Things About Yourself
This can be hard, especially if it has become a subconscious habit. If you wouldn’t speak to a loved one the way you’re speaking to yourself, then realise that this needs to change.
When you find your subconscious speaking negatively towards yourself you need to pull yourself and retract what you’ve said. Then go ahead and reinforce a positive affirmation.
You know what, I do look bomb in these jeans! I love my curves and I will NOT compare myself to people on the internet!
Practise Daily Affirmations
Practising daily affirmations can look different for everyone. Some people may like to write their daily affirmations on a mirror or in your journal. It could be something long and meaningful or it could just be a reminder that you are enough!
I am worthy, I am beautiful, I am enough!
Mindfulness can help you in so many different aspects of your life. Yoga and meditation are great for the body, mind, and soul but if these things are not for you there other ways you might want to practise mindfulness.
For me, it’s getting out in nature and going for walks. This will helps me to switch off and practise being in the moment. These are meaningful steps towards practising self-love.
Finding Your Creative Passion
Exploring your creativity is an amazing expression of self-love and self-care. Creativity looks different for everyone, you might love painting, going to the gym, practising yoga or getting outdoors and gardening.
Find that passion that lights you up inside so that when you’re feeling like you’re struggling with low self-esteem you have your go-to creative outlet.
Writing down things that you are grateful for is the perfect way to practise gratitude and really capture the essence of being grateful for what you have in life. Journaling is also a great way to improve your communication skills and promote self-confidence.
A couple of prompts that you can start with are:
What are three things I’m grateful for today?
What are three things I’m proud of yourself for?
